Monkey: Our Founder

Monkey’s Brewing is named after my first brew dog, Monkey — a legend on the back patio who supervised every batch. He never made a batch himself, but he was always there to make sure I didn’t wander off, drop any grains, or do anything else he didn’t approve of.

Monkey is gone now, but the entire project started with him. His name, his personality, and his complete love of beer will always be part of this site.

Freyja: Current CEO

When Monkey left us, our acting COO became the new HMFIC (Head Mutt Frequently Inciting Chaos). She rules the brewery and the yard with an iron jaw and tolerates no mischief that she can’t be a part of.

She’s a boxer with unlimited enthusiasm, powerful underfoot energy, and absolutely no understanding of brewing.

Her contribution is mostly “supervision,” which generally means laying down exactly where I need to stand. But she shows up to every brew day, and that’s what counts.

Chad: Brewer

Chad is the brewer, storyteller, and all-around tinkerer behind Monkey’s Brewing. What started as a simple curiosity about what makes a great beer has grown into a full-on obsession with kettles, camp-stove brew days, fermentation experiments, and the never-ending quest for the perfect pint. He’s the kind of guy who reads yeast packets for fun and believes that a good beer is equal parts science, patience, and “let’s see what happens if we try this…”

Outside the brewhouse, Chad is a proud sports nut—especially when it comes to the Denver pro teams and the mountain-region colleges. If a game is on, odds are good he’s watching it… unless Freyja the house guardian decides to block the TV again. Music is another lifelong passion, and his tastes stretch across decades and genres. Whether it’s classic vinyl spinning in the background or something new playing while he works, there’s always a soundtrack to the day.

Chad is also a lover of warm beaches, tropical drinks, and the kind of vacations where time moves slower and the sunsets hit a little harder. Add in a good cigar, and life doesn’t get much better. And if you spot a familiar afro and a soothing voice nearby—yes, Chad is an unapologetic Bob Ross fan. Happy little trees live rent-free in his heart.

Monkey’s Brewing is Chad’s creative outlet: a place to experiment, to learn, to share, and to laugh at the inevitable misadventures along the way. Whether you’re here for brewing tips, beer reviews, random musings, or just the company, you’re in the right place.
